Bear with me while I make this post relevant... About two years ago, Project BIG fish launched Project Little fish a free baby and family blogging service. We did this for two reasons: 1) The 3 principals at the fish bowl were parents and had built individual blog sites and family and friends were asking us to build them one as well. 2) We wanted a proof of concept for a few ideas we had on how clients could provide and integrate personal/member/constituent communications into their Web applications. The project turned out to be a success in that I we have won several projects over the last couple years by using these working concepts for organizations that have nothing to do with baby or personal blogging services. Anyway....
Upon launch of Project Little fish I was blown away by the number of people that used the service not for baby blogs but for pet blogs. Really people blog about their pets?! We'll I guess they tweet about them too and now pups can tweet for themselves with Mattel's latest offering Puppy Tweets. On a personal level I never really got into the twitter thing and Puppy Tweets isn't exactly justifying it for me. Project Little fish does offer the ability to send a Tweet when a new blog post is entered, however, this feature was always second to the ability to also share on Facebook. Hmmm, with Puppy Tweets, do I dare suggest product integration with our pet blogs? Probably not.
